It was early in the morning when Bess awoke, which was highly unusual for her since she usually awoke when the sun was out in which it was not. Even though she was under a comforter, the lady-in-waiting was still freezing most likely being the sun had not risen yet. Perhaps she had awoken from being so cold in the Winter season. Nevertheless, Bess left her bed and went to the closet in her room for a second blanket, not wishing to get up so early. She warmed up after a few minutes of shivering under two layers of blankets, and then falling back asleep in the comfortable bed.
When Bess awoke a few hours later, it was much warmer and the Sun was out and shining at last. Feeling full of energy, the lady-in-waiting got out of bed and dressed in a simple white dress, and then putting a thinner medium green layer over it since she had no duties to Queen Susan today. She left her hair loose rather her usual braid and simply pulled part of it back into a clip. Grabbing her cloak, Bess decided to go for a stroll in the courtyard being it was one of her favorite places in Cair Paravel.
Quietly, in case anyone else who had a room near hers was still asleep, the lady-in-waiting closed the door to her bedroom. She would have gone to the garden, but being it was Winter there were flowers to admire. Bess strolled the courtyard, taking a deep breath and enjoying the lovely morning. It was cold, but the lady-in-waiting did not mind being she did have her cloak on after all.
Bess wondered what she would do today being it was a day off for her. Perhaps go exploring, or maybe a ride in the woods or by the shore on Stiner, her horse. How Bess loved the sea! She often missed her life aboard the ship, but had known that she could not live like that for the rest of her life. The lady-in-waiting often missed Avra, the island she had been born and had decided recently that she would go back there someday and help the people there.

Sebastien swung his legs back and forth as he sat on the thick trunk of a tree. With the tree's permission of course. Currently, he was watching the waves at the beach. He had been sleeping on a small hill near the beach the previous night because he wanted a good view of the sunrise. While he did have a room, a very nice room, in Cair Paravel to sleep in, Seb still preferred to spend nights outdoors at least once a week. It was somewhat an old habit.
Back when he was little, he would occasionally spend nights outdoors with his little sister, especially during the summer months when the little cabin his family lived in became too hot. During the time he spent on the ship as a cabin boy, he slept on deck except when the weather became too rough. It was the same deal for most nights when he was traveling. The stars and the moon were his constant companions during the night.
For the moment, Seb was trying to decide on what to do for the rest of the morning. He had watched the sunrise, eaten breakfast and had even helped a Squirrel gather some nuts. Normally, Seb would seek out Queen Lucy, but he knew she was at her lessons today with Lady Ariadne. King Edmund, who was a good companion since they were both the same age and had several things in common, was busy with the visiting dignitaries. Seb knew this because he was suppose to perform at the feast in three days time. He could visit Ark the Head Healer, but it was much too early. Maybe, he should just go to the courtyard, hide up in a tree and finish his puppets for the feast.
So with his mind made up, Seb dropped from the branch and landed quietly onto the ground. With a quick glance back at the sea and its rolling waves, Seb hiked back to the castle. He was almost done his last puppet, a pppet of Queen Lucy. He also had most of the story figured out, now all he needed were some songs and poems to go along with the whole puppet show.
The journey to the particular Courtyard he had chosen was uneventful. He met very little people since all the servants were preparing for the feast or waiting on the visitors and no royalties walked in the servants' hallways.
It wasn't until reaching the courtyards did Seb meet anyone of interest. It was Lady Elizabeth walking by herself. She had her cloak on to stay warm in the cold morning though Seb himself was mostly unaffected by the temperature. He was too use to extreme weather to be bothered by it. Not feeling particularly inspired to work on his puppet show, Seb decided to chat with Queen Susan's lady-in-waiting instead.
"Good morning Lady Elizabeth," greeted Seb, taking a deep bow in front of the lady.

Looking out over the sea, Bess was reminded of her life on the ship and the island, yet the lady-in-waiting had seen enough of shores and oceans. She wished someday to go to Archenland and see its beautiful mountains, or perhaps to Calormen to see the desert and beautiful palaces it was said to have. Of course she simply would not be able to leave on her own being she served a Queen, but merely hoped someday Susan would allow her to tag along if she ever traveled to such places. As Bess day dreamed she was suddenly bought back from seeing a boy around her age standing there. He was pale, with blonde hair and green eyes, which Bess thought were pretty. She recognized him from around the castle, was he not the boy who made puppets or something of that? Bess thought it was rather strange he made such things, but she did not say it out loud. He greeted her with a good morning, and Bess replied, "Good morning to you too Sir. I am sorry, but I have never learned your name before. You are the one who makes the puppets, if I am not mistaken?" Bess added, "And its just Bess please. Very few call me Elizabeth."

"Yes, I am the one who makes puppets, among other things," explained Seb, "My name is Sebastien Lienid. I am an entertainer, currently residing in Cair Paravel. I travel from place to place to put on shows for the public. Sometimes I am hired to do private performances by lords or other nobles."
Hearing the Lady Elizabeth speak at a closer distance than he had ever heard her from, it was the first time Seb ever heard her accent properly. It was slight, not many poele would pick it up. Except maybe another Islander like himself. Seb still had the accent when he spoke normally and unguarded, but he only did that when talking to the other servants or with the public when he traveled. Otherwise, he would be speaking to someone of importance and that usually meant more formal words. Formal words usually made his light accent disappear.
Speaking in a courtly manner was getting easier for Seb, but he still found himself thinking while he spoke. It was not yet second nature. He blamed his lack of education. But it was fun speaking formally sometimes. It was like acting and acting was definitely one of Sebastien's hobbies.
"What brings you out here today, Lady?" asked Seb politely. He heard Lady Elizabeth tell him to call her Bess, but he chose to ignore it. That was one direct command he would never follow.

Bess felt irritated seeing as this boy was still calling her Lady even though she was not really one. It was true anyway since Bess was but a commoner and would not have anything if it was not for her job as Queen Susan's lady-in-waiting. She gave the puppet-maker a dirty look and said "My patience grows thin with you, boy. I asked you to call me Bess seeing as I am not really a Lady." He had explained before how he not only made puppets but did other as well and put on shows for the public and the wealthy also. Bess decided to tease this boy, and turned away from him with her arms crossed, saying "If I am such a Lady as you say, then a commoner like yourself should not be talking with someone of my dignity."

It seemed that Lady Elizabeth was more than a little annoyed with him calling her a lady. Seb couldn't help it. His parents never allowed to him to forget where he was on the social pyramid and the captain of the ship he was on, even less. It wasn't a abit he could just break over night. And it wasn't something he wanted to change. Though Sebastien always atatched titles to the nobles' names, he was never afraid to stand up to them. The titles were a sign of respect and that had nothing to do with whether or not he would reconsider telling them when they were doing something wrong. Titles never stopped him from being rebellious either.
When Elizabeth gave Seb a dirty look and told him that they shouldn't be talking, Seb had to hold back his laughter. He knew that Elizabeth was only teasing and she was not the best actor in the world. not that Seb was saying she was a bad actor, only that Seb had seen better ones. It was clear that the Lady hadn't meant what she said. Feeling especially playful and full of energy today, Seb decided to play along.
"I am dreadfully sorry my Lady. I apologize for my boldness. I shall return to my duties now." said Seb, taking another deep bow, making sure to hide his smile well, and retreating towards the trees. He knew that calling Elizabeth a Lady was not necessary since they both come from similar backgrounds, but the difference was that she personally served queen Susan while Seb was only an entertainer, serving all who wanted to watch him, whether or not they could afford for a performance. Which ever way Seb looked at it, she still out ranked him.

Bess suddenly felt guilt at being rather rude to the boy as he walked towards the trees where he had probably been before he had come to her. "No, wait a second boy! Come back here!" Bess would never tell him she was sorry, but she did feel bad about her attitude towards him. She glared slightly seeing he was trying to stifle a laugh at the way she had been teasing him. "Oh, laugh as you please! I have never been taught how to be an actress so I do not care."
Relaxing, Bess said "You know, I do not even know what your name is, boy. I can not keep calling you boy, now can I?" She smirked slightly at the last thing that had come out of her mouth. "I have never liked puppets very much you see, but I have always been interested in seeing a play. I shall have to attend one of yours one of these days perhaps."
(ooc: sorry if its short, I wanted to get something in)
