It had seemed like years since the islanders visited the mainland of Narnia. Many stuck with their island Kingdoms instead of Narnia, but yet many islander made a yearly trip over there. This time it was Laura's turn, well her sister's, but she gave her trip to Laura because, the fact she hadn't been to Narnia. Laura was at first surprised and turned down the offering since she was performing in the Royal Musicians of the Islands. Then again Laura soon thought it over and went to ask her sister if the trip was still available. Her sister Sophie nodded with a reply and Laura accepted it. A few weeks later she asked permission to leave Terebenitha for a musical inspiration within Narnia itself. The Royal family granted her permission and Laura set out a week later.
Laura wandered about in the midlands not really sure of where to go, but to find inspiration. It was very hard at first until she came to the old battlefield of the Witch's War long ago. Laura sat down on a nearby rock rolling a map of Narnia before her. She seemed to be out of place since it was her first time here. Tracing a finger over the land to where it stopped. She smiled and rolled the map back up before walking into the field. Laura walked around the field for a few minutes before once again stopping. "This is hopeless." she said setting down in the grass.

Fighting and killing enemies had always been the only aspect of his life which he was good at instead of giving and obeying orders. Marcus Aurelius Thorn had always been a loyal soldier. He had fought and won many battles. Thus, he had gained the rank of Captain of the Guard and General of the Narnian Army at the age of 17. Two years had passed since that day, and Marcus was a man who inspired respect to his men and to others.
Marcus was riding his horse, Helladorn. He was still inside the forest. His horse, Valinor, neighed. He was pushing him to the edge, and Marcus could finally see light breaking through the thickness of the trees.
His eyes closed as he came out of the forest and into the sunshine. He patted his horse. "Good job, my friend" he said. "Good job". He loved Valinor. Valinor had helped him during many battles and they had been close since their first battle together.
He found himself gazing into the old battlefield of the Witch's War. And he wasn't alone. He stopped riding his horse and his legs touched the grass. He was wearing his black travelling cloak, and not his armour. "Hello. I'm Marcus Aurelius Thorn" he said.

Laura had been setting there for a while trying to figure out where to go. Ever since she landed on the shores of Narnia which was nothing, but a small fishing town. She was concerned on where to go and yet she would get into trouble when she returned back to Terebinthia cause of her short lie, but if she wrote a song then it wouldn't be a lie. That was the only thing that was bothering her at the moment, but she would find a way in time. Laura decided not to think about it now, but on the map that she had in her lap.
Her eyes focused on the map trying to decide where to go North? East? West? or South? She couldn't quite figure it out. There was so many places that she was told of about this Kingdom. Could she go the Cair Paravel and notified the Ambassador that she had arrived safely? Of course not she wasn't ready to met all four Royal Members plus King Caspian. Laura was one of those nervous people always changing their mind at the end. She was in the mist of trying to think of a place when she heard a voice nearby. Looking up she saw someone else, but he looked alot like her uncle then a teenager. She of course didn't say anything about that,"Hello." she replied back,"Laura Sheridan from Terebinthia."

Marcus looked at her. There. Mission accomplished. He had found her, and now he had to escort her to Cair Paravel. After all, the Kings and Queens of Narnia had entrusted only him with this mission, though he couldn't understand why. Even a messenger would accomplish this mission. However, Marcus had silenced his protests and obeyed his orders. After all, Marcus never disobeyed orders.
All those battles had taken their toll upon the young general of the narnian army. Marcus never passed for a nineteen-year-old. He looked older. Much older. "So, I guess your trip was successful." he said. "I have been entrusted with the mission to escort you to Cair Paravel safely. The Kings and Queens of Narnia want to talk to you" he said.
He looked at her, anticipating her reaction. Then, his gaze fell upon the open meadow. He inhaled. Oh, the place vibrated with the adrenaline still issuing from it after all those years. He could see footprints, still fresh after all those years. Marcus smiled.

Upon hearing his word that she was to be escorted to Cair Paravel? She didn't have to do anything, but maybe it was the Royal family of Terebinthia sending them a letter making sure that their prized musician wasn't lost or harmed. Laura hated that she even was closely escorted at the Royal Islanders Gala. She wished that they would at least give her some much needed space, but she would have to follow the rules or suffer something bad. "May I ask why the Kings and Queens want to speak with me? If I'm not being forward." she asked every curious on why.
Laura was here on a musical mission and yet it wasn't a royal visit. She rolled up the map slowly still pondering on what to do once she arrived at the castle. What would she say or do? She was like this when her sister introduced her to the royal family. "I guess we need to get a move on then." she said picking up her bag placing it over her shoulder.

"Of course. The Kings and Queens of Narnia do not want one of the most prized musicians wandering alone in the wilderness. You are seen as a guest, and that's how we treat guests" he said and bowed his head. "After all, they sent the best man to protect. There is no reason for you to fear" he added and smiled.
Marcus had never escorted someone before to Cair Paravel. All he knew was how to protect his superiors and his soldiers. How to fight. How to obey and give orders. He wasn't prepared for this.
"You probably already know that the Kings and Queens have decided that you stay with them in Cair Paravel. If you want, that is" he said. He pointed to his horse. "You are right" he said and patted Valinor's head.

"I see." Laura replied back a small smile knowing what he said was very true. She was a guest after all and yet her music was known somewhat over here, but not much. "As does many Kings and Queens that I meet." she added recalling every island that she been to with guards following her every step outside the castle walls. It was getting pretty boring and old for her and what she was only eighteen. She could take care of herself, but she had to follow the rules. Laura looked around at the scenery finally wishing to get somewhere.
"Of course. I can't turn their offer down." she said beginning to walk in the direction of Cair Paravel that she memorized on the map. Laura was regretting that she ever came here to Narnia. The sooner she got to the castle the better of she'll be.

Marcus smiled. He knew that feeling. Well, he had been feeling like that for a few years. Up until he became a soldier. Nobody cares for a soldier. Well, Marcus cared for his men. And so did the Kings and Queens of Narnia. Marcus was proud of himself. Proud of how things turned out to be. Captain of the Guard and General of the army by the age of nineteen was saying something. "Good. I'll inform them as soon as we get to Cair Paravel" he said and smiled.
Marcus followed her, trying to catch up with her, holding Valinor by the reins. "Allow me to lend you my horse. His name is Valinor. He is a good friend" he said and patted Valinor's head gently, as he caught up with her. "So, I presume you haven't been to Narnia before" he said.

"I assure you will." she said for the millionth time in her life. She felt like an actress memorizing lines for a play it was sad think to do. The one thing that Laura did that no other ruler did was to care for people lower then their rank. Well one ruler did...hers. Meeting every King and Queen was a big offer since Terebinthia was getting recognized by their status with music. She was the youngest of the Musicians and quite the expert to. Of course she was thankful for that and her parents actions of putting her into a boarding school where music became her only activity.
"I might ride him in a little while if you don't mind. I don't want to put alot of stress onto him." she replied back concerned about his horse and no the less she was an animal lover. She didn't like to see animals suffer. "No, I haven't. My sister Sophie has, you might know of her. She's a horse trainer." she said with a smile that he might of known her sister since she came over here twice a month or sometimes more to train horses.

"It's fine. Valinor has been through many battles. He doesn't get tired easily. He's one of the best horses" he said with pride. Well, apart from his unmatched battle skills, Marcus was proud of Valinor. He had the priviledge of having a great horse, and a great friend. He nodded as she mentioned the name of her sister. "Well, her name reminds me of someone. If my memory serves me right, she was the one that helped me train Valinor" he said and smiled. "I owe her my life" he added.
They had to walk a lot of way to reach Cair Paravel. Marcus smiled. He had always been a fun of journeys. He remembered that during his training, he would escape at night and return at the break of dawn. Thus, no harm done. He started humming. "The road goes ever on and on..." he murmured as he smiled. Singing. He would sing alone when he had time, though he tried to keep it secret. After all, what kind of General liked singing and had a great voice?

"He reminds me of the horse my sister trained on a nearby island. Llameri was the horse's name. Strong, but yet helpful at times." Laura said glancing up at the horse seeing the same from Llameri and now of course her sister was training a horse for her birthday gift. That was all she knew. "She's two inches taller than me. Long Brown hair and brown eyes. She usually wheres the official Terebinthian colors if she's away. " she said knowing what her sister wore if she was away from Terebinthia. "I remember that she spoke of your horse just after returning from here." Laura looked at him with a smile,"I'm sure she will be grateful for that. Not many would do so."
If Laura remembered right the castle was a long ways off probably a two day journey, but it could be shorter if they had two horses. Laura loved the outdoors and hardly got to get out since she was very busy at times. Laura did noticed his humming and knew that music and singing had to be a big part over here. "You should join a choir or sing solo with a voice like that." she said noticing the depth in his voice,"Many Generals and members of the army sing in concerts. I usually do the music or help another musician out."

Marcus grinned. True, her description matched with the person Marcus was thinking of. "That's her. Well, when you see her again pass her my greetings" he said. "Valinor is a great horse. It doesn't surprise me that she spoke of him" he added and patted Valinor's head affectionately. Valinor neighed.
Marcus smiled. "Thank you" he said. "Although I am honoured, I will have to say no. War has always been my first priority. Well, only second to protecting my family and the Rulers of Narnia" he said. "Well, music is a major part of our life here. Although I love singing, I am only a General. I give and obey orders. I protect my soldiers. I win battles" he said and smiled.

"I will make note of that and tell her once I get back." Laura said a small smile on her face,"She does talks about horses that she trained very regularly." She looked at the horse for a moment before looking ahead of them. Laura knew that her sister always talked about the horses that she once trained. That subject between her and her sister was getting pretty boring always running on and on, but Laura hadn't said anything that would upset her sister or it would been something else that the court of Terebinthia would talk over about. It was good enough to say that Laura would keep her fingers cleaned for the time being.
"You're welcome." Laura said after a moment in deep thought. "It was just a suggestion. People who are tied up with war and such can always do something along the side as a hobby." she said not trying to cause a war between them. Laura did remember that from someone back on Terebinthia that war always came first her in Narina before anyone else. It was sad, but Laura knew that different all kingdoms were different including Narnia. "My ruler told me so that music was a major part of life over here." she replied looking back out ahead.
