So you want to join Aslan's Will and you've gotten to the Application. Since we really, really don't want to reject your application (we love new members!) here is our general criteria for the application.
1. Grammar and Spelling:
2. Consistency:
3. Formatting:
4. Writing Style:
5. Canonicity:
Please note, none of the above is a guaranteed rejection, and on extremely rare cases we'll make an exception, but for the most part, try to follow all these rules. And if we do have a problem with your app, you'll be given a chance to make edits. Thanks!
1. Grammar and Spelling:
This is our number one pet peeve. All of the admins are kind of OCD, so please, please, please check your spelling and grammar in your app. It's one thing to have typos or a few grammar mistakes, and it's quite another when we have to stop and reread your sentence ten times before we can figure out what you're trying to say. Homophones, people! Learn them and use the proper one before we go insane.
2. Consistency:
If your personality says you're dark and brooding, don't put 'sunshine and daisies' under their likes. And your history needs to match that personality. If your roleplay sample is for that character (which it doesn't have to be), we want to see that it matches what you've written in the other portions.
3. Formatting:
Hi, I'm the admin that did all the coding for this site. I'm kind of crazy about formatting and coding. If it says 2 paragraphs, make it clearly 2 paragraphs (or more, if you'd like). It makes it easier for us to read your app and to be honest, nice formatting gives you extra points when we're deciding whether to accept you or not, and extra points are good!
4. Writing Style:
This ought to be self-evident, but make sure that your writing style matches your character's personality. If they're bold and full of panache, make them dramatic and over the top in your writing, but if they're a well-educated noble, we'll expect formal and full sentences. Even if you only apply this to their speech, it makes a huge difference.
5. Canonicity:
This applies to everyone, not just canons. This site has chosen to follow the movies rather than the novels, and so we ask that you do your best to match the movies. We don't want elves or other made up things or crossovers with other fandoms. And remember, this isn't a magic roleplay, so humans don't just have powers.
Please note, none of the above is a guaranteed rejection, and on extremely rare cases we'll make an exception, but for the most part, try to follow all these rules. And if we do have a problem with your app, you'll be given a chance to make edits. Thanks!
