In the aftermath of the disease those who had survived began to find themselves able to manipulate the world around them in a multitude of ways that they had never before known. They became Element Wielders. Some were touched only lightly with the new abilities; others were strong and deft in their manipulation of the elements. New lines were drawn. Species, families, tribes were all completely forgotten; your element determined your ties. Earth, Air, Fire, Water…

"Our society has recovered. Most don't even remember the disease; that awful plague. Maybe that seems like a good thing to some, but I know better. We might have been foolish before the disease; the tribes might have fought too much, but at least we had family. Family used to mean something; now all that matters is what you can do. The plague changed everything; time has yet to reveal whether that change was really for the better. Peace reigns for now, but with families torn apart at every turn; with society deeming our bonds, can it really last?"
