ADAM SILVANUS BLACKWELL .I’ll watch as the cold winter melts into spring And I’ll be remembering You. Oh, and I’ll smell the flowers and hear the birds sing And I’ll be remembering You.
OOC alias: Drasi experience: About four or five years how did you find us: Ad on another website other characters: none yet rules password: ******
THE BASICS name: Adam Silvanus Blackwell nicknames: Silvy (very, very rare, so don't try calling him that yet) age: 21/i] birthdate: Early spring race&species: Telmarine Human rank: lower-middle class (originally from a family of saddle-makers) occupation: soldier
THE PHYSICAL body type: Adam has a strong figure with wide shoulders and defined muscles. hair: Adam's hair is the usual brown. It tends to go more towards the scruffy side, especially after he's been in his armor for awhile eyes: Adam has simple grey eyes. height: 5'11" weight: 170 lbs facial features: Adam has a strong jaw and isn't always clean-shaven. He sometimes looks rugged, especially if he hasn't had the time to take care of his appearance. clothing: When not in his armor, Adam usually wears a loose tunic with a belt and a sheath to hold his sword. His pants are slightly large on him and tucked into his black boots. racial features: Totally a normal human being. anything else: Adam has a scar on the back of his neck from when he was caught in an alley as a boy (will explain in history). playby: Clive Standen
THE MENTAL likes: dislikes: strengths: weaknesses: fears: general personality: Adam is an overall nice guy. He cares about people and dislikes those that try to take advantage of others. He doesn't stay silent in the face of injustice and gives the cold shoulder to anyone whom he deems deserves it. His temper can get more heated, though, if they don't get the message the first time around. This can be a mistake for him sometimes because he doesn't always explain why he's angry. He is a good soldier, not the best, but his strong sense of moral values keeps him from slipping into the more stereotypical views of the common soldier. In battle, he has proven himself to be more capable to handle the pressure and intensity, though he still lacks skill when he gets too close to others (especially if he loses his sword. He's had a few close calls because of that). He doesn't normally drink, but that doesn't keep him from having a good time.
The only real flaw with Adam is his impatience. He doesn't like it when people take their time unless it affects the quality of what they're doing. Even then he can still be a little harsh. This is one of the few times that his temper will ever show. Other than that, he stays calm unless he comes across some kind of injustice. Adam also has a tendency to wander off when he shouldn't, but he can usually explain his way out of interrogations as to why he had disappeared. He has a slightly transcendental side to him. Self-sufficiency is important to him, and he draws wisdom from the natural world around him, but he won't admit that that's the reason why he wanders off alone.
THE HISTORICAL parents: Georgina and Roger Blackwell siblings: Sam (younger brother, 15 years old) history: Adam was born in his family's home near Miraz's castle. Life was harsh at the beginning as the family was still establishing themselves in the city when Adam was born. Taxes were still a source of fear for their family until they finally managed to make enough to support themselves on the saddle-making business. Sam was born five years after Adam. His parents tried to have more children, but only another daughter, Lissa, was born. She died a week after her birth.
Adam grew up helping his parents with the business, but he aspired to be a soldier. He would wander off on his own when his parents weren't looking and watch the soldiers in town. Sometimes he would grab a stick and pretend to fight with it, but this wasn't always the best idea. During one of Adam's excursions, he found himself in an alley. Three older and larger boys surrounded him and demanded that he handed over any money that he had. When he claimed he didn't have any, he was surprised by the feeling of cold metal on the back of his neck. A fourth boy had shown up. Adam knew they had no intent to kill, just scare, but he could feel that the cold metal was a dagger and that it was digging into the back of his neck. He received a pummeling for not having anything significant on him until he was left in the alley to fend for himself. Adam rushed back home and avoided his parents until they finally saw him and asked what happened. He explained everything except the dagger wound on the back of his neck which he kept covered with a scarf. From that day onward, he stayed away from the dark alleys and daggers. It's probably one of the biggest reasons why he doesn't like hand-to-hand combat. There's just too much of a disadvantage.
Later on in life, Adam slowly began to realize his dream of becoming a soldier. He started learning archery when he was ten years old, and his parents were able to buy him a horse when he was thirteen years old. He was able to go outside of the city on his wanderings after that and sometimes spent the night away from the city in the forests surrounding it. He tried climbing a tree one day but fell when he was near the top. Luckily he survived with only a fear of heights to show for it.
Everything in his life changed when he met Celeste. He was only seventeen when he first saw her, but he knew she was a wonderful person from the moment she spoke to him. He had been taking a saddle for delivery for his family when Bovril had nearly bucked him off in the middle of the road. Celeste had laughed and commented on the spirit of his horse. Adam had only been able to manage a weak but embarrassed smile in reply before he urged Bovril forward again. He kept seeing her on the streets whenever he was out, even on his wanderings, and he grew the confidence to finally be able to talk to her. Within the next year, he discovered that he was in love with her. On the day that he was about to admit his feelings for her at their usual meeting spot when he saw someone else there. Celeste's younger sister stood in her place with terrible news. Celeste had fallen ill and her prospects didn't look good. Adam begged to be taken to her home, and finally Celeste's younger sister relented and allowed him to see his ill friend. Adam could barely remember what he said or what even happened when he saw Celeste. He remembered admitting what he had been dying to say along with her smile. Then he told her that he had to leave the next day to join the army. He was turning eighteen, and it was his time to go. She promised him that she would get better before he left, but Adam could only hope that she kept the promise as he walked out the door and towards the life that he had thought he dreamed of. "Be a great soldier, Adam," was what he heard as he closed the door behind him.
Six months later, Adam returned to the city around Miraz's Castle. The first place he visited was Celeste's home, but when the door was opened, Celeste's younger sister greeted him with a hollow greeting. He assumed the worst and walked away without another word. After spending a little less than a year moping about the whole ordeal and mourning his dead love, he realized, with the help of some his fellow soldiers, that he shouldn't dwell on the past. He got over the rough parts of his past, found a home he could stay in near Cair Paravel so he wouldn't have to depend on his own family, and returned to his normal, happy self. The only real negative effects of his past that remained were his fear of heights, hand-to-hand combat, disease, and his insomnia. Other than that, he remains a rather average soldier in ability but more heart than most.
THE ROLEPLAYING canon or original character: original why do you want to play this character: I always notice a lack of male characters on boards, and I'm usually kind of good at playing males anyway. That, and Adam is a pretty cool character in the first place. take this quiz: www.ponylandpress.com/ms-test.html what was your character's score?: 1 roleplay sample: Professor Chatford watched, eyebrows raised in what would have looked like interest but was really amusement, as Sungmin took Ryo out of the Common Room. He waited quietly until he was certain that they were gone before he turned his attention back to the young girl that remained.
"Foolish. Absolutely foolish," Chatford said in the most even tones he could muster. "You should know better than to attack students on campus. It's messy, it's risky, and worst of all, it's ridiculous. I thought you were really intelligent, cunning even, but I see I have underestimated you. You are immature and sloppy at best, Miss Framboise. At best, mind you. When you're here at school, you plan. You plot. You get others to do your bidding and get into trouble for you. All that will follow you after your years in Hogwarts. All the loyalty and the fear, it will stay with you, and it will be extremely useful. Now is the time to be building that up, not ruining it like what you're doing right now." Chatford sighed. "Send for a new wand. The other one is obviously destroyed. Go to the Headmistress tomorrow and explain what you did tonight, and only what you did tonight. Hope that you won't be expelled, and work on networking and getting others to work for you. You need to be a Slytherin: have the guts of a Gryffindor, the cunning of a Ravenclaw, and the diligence of a Hufflepuff. Do you understand, Miss Frambroise?"
